About the position
At IDENER.AI, we are looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in Seville. You will work across a growing portfolio of R&D and private-sector projects โ including but not limited to the ones listed above โ applying machine learning, data analysis, and AI-driven decision-support solutions in domains such as maritime security and surveillance, multimodal XR training, and intelligent sensor systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and apply machine learning and data science solutions for international R&D projects, contributing to predictive models, intelligent analytics, decision-support tools, and data-driven digital platforms.
- Build end-to-end workflows covering data acquisition, preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and evaluation.
- Work with heterogeneous data sources depending on project needs, including tabular data, time series, text, sensor data, and, where relevant, image or video data.
- Contribute to the development of robust and explainable AI/ML models to support scientific, technical, and operational decision-making.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, data visualization, and interpretation of results to support project activities and technical conclusions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including data scientists, AI engineers, software developers, and domain experts to translate research into practical solutions.
- Contribute to reproducible experimentation practices, scalable data pipelines, and production-oriented integration of AI components.
- Prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and deliverables for international R&D projects (e.g., Horizon Europe).
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in Data Science, Machine Learning, and Applied AI, contributing proactively with new ideas and proposals.
- Participate in the preparation and writing of EU-funded research proposals (e.g., Horizon Europe), including the definition of technical work packages, pilot use cases, and consortium contributions.

Minimum requirements
- BSc, MSc, or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electronics, Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering (GIERM), Aerospace Engineering, or related quantitative fields.
- Professional proficiency in English is essential, as you will be responsible for drafting technical deliverables and engaging in high-level discussions within international consortiums.
- Strong background in Machine Learning and Data Science.
- Proficiency in Python and its scientific ecosystem (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn).
- Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and performance analysis.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Ability to work with heterogeneous datasets and translate data into actionable insights and technical solutions.
- Familiarity with agentic engineering concepts and AI-assisted development workflows.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams
